Dear
colleagues, dear friends,
You are
obviously aware, thanks to the media, that approximately two million
displaced people fleeing from the conflict in north-west Pakistan
are converging on camps without any infrastructure. Even if the big
international organisations join forces and take action, the mass of
refugees entails a very serious humanitarian crisis made worse by
the suffocating heat of the approaching summer.
The
Alliance Française network in Pakistan has decided to launch an
appeal for donations in order to supply mineral water and baby food
as well as essential items (tents, toiletries).
For us
who work here, it is imperative to act as we did at the time of the
earthquake of October 2005.
What
will we do with these funds?
We will
directly buy essential products and give them to NGOs known for
their experience and for their serious work.
